US delivers second RQ-4 Global Hawk UAV to RoKAF – link

  • The Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF) has received the second of four Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Block 30 Global Hawk UAVs it ordered from the United States in 2014
  • A few days earlier, on 9 April, the Yonhap News Agency had quoted South Korean military officials as saying that two more Global Hawks were expected to arrive in South Korea in April, following the arrival of the first one on 23 December 2019 at the RoKAF’s Sacheon Air Base in South Gyeongsang Province
  • The media outlet also reported that the RoKAF aims to start operating the UAVs by the end of 2020, adding that the service has already set up a reconnaissance squadron in charge of the platforms
  • The US Department of State had approved in July 2019 a potential USD950 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) of contractor logistics support and other services for the RoKAF’s Global Hawk fleet
  • The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced at the time that the proposed sale also included program management, minor modifications and upgrades, spare and repair/return parts, operational flight support, depot and organizational level maintenance, technical and logistics services, and other related elements of logistics and program support
